One of TLSS's members, Dr Siderov, obtained his PhD whilst studying weeds.  His thesis is titled "Investigation of the invasion dynamics of Asparagus asparagoides at the habitat level using spatial analytical techniques (2005)".  Wow what a title!  Basically the good doctor knows a heck of a lot about weeds (wrong plants in the wrong place) which the Bulla Hill Railway site had in abundance when we arrived and not much else.  As our "resident expert" Dr Siderov has spent the last 15 years co-ordinating the work to improve the vegetation at Bulla Hill.  He has liaised with the Hume Council and organised with them an annual Community Planting Day.  He also been successful in obtaining grants to improve the environment at the site.  The pictures below are sets taken at the same position around the railway. The left side are early pictures and the right side are the present day ones.  What a difference!!  But the work continues.  The most recent grant provides the funding for a number of new plantings.
